We have arrived.
What now?
25km is a site-specific project inspired by the city of Eleusis. Having as a starting point the Ancient Eleusinian Procession, the project focuses on the immense experience provided by a long walking route. It explores ways in which such an experience can be translated into dance.
On the 20th of February 2022, the artistic team of the project walked in silence for 25 kilometers from Athens (Kerameikos) to Eleusis (Archaeological Site of Eleusis) in search of new personal and collective meanings.
The anticipation at the starting, the ephemeral contact with nature, the need for body and soul catharsis, and the prolonged arrival all represent different aspects of kinetic research and form the basis for the composition of a contemporary collective ritual.
25km consists of an artistic documentary, an artistic map, and a dance performance in the city of Eleusis. The project proposes a new version of the Eleusinian Procession based on the ancient and contemporary history of the place and our need to survive and live in the present.
25km is realized in the framework of 2023 ELEVSIS – European Capital of Culture and U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography under the artistic direction of Patricia Apergi and Aerites Dance Company.
25km is supported by NEON through its Annual Grants Programme.
