LOVE (OR GHOSTS OF A NON-PLACE)

Love (or Ghosts of a Non-Place) is an interactive, work-in-progress show, a theatrical play and an art exhibition at the same time. It takes place inside the Bangeion building at Omonoia Square; starting from the entrance, it continues all the way up to the third floor. It creates a “fragmentary city of love”, a performance and a platform of experimentation that aspires to evolve and reshape itself along the way, connecting the intermediary, ephemeral and porous character of Omonoia Square with a timeless universe of feelings, in a game with the boundaries between different art fields and forms of expression.

Love (or Ghosts of a Non-Place) develops as a conversation between a contemporary art exhibition and a theatrical production based on the form of devised theater. The works of art are spread in the building generating an existential itinerary, operating both autonomously and as landmarks which interact with the performers and all other elements of the theatrical performance. Therefore, they are transformed to essential plot devices of the show and they become a main piece of its whole narrative. Actors, performers, dancers, artists, musicians, writers, they become the creators of a “city” from the “fragmentary materials of love”: the wavering and the absence of love, the constant and desperate search of love, the plenitude, physical and mental, that love brings, the senses that love activates, the exhaustion and the end of love (but also the way that love shapes the subject and the gender, the class and cultural parameters of affect).
