The Symptom Projects presents its new exhibition program for the 11th consecutive year in the city of Amfissa. The group exhibition Please Please Me, curated by Vassiliki-Maria Plavou takes place from September 19 to October 4, 2020.
In Amfissa’s former hospital, in the familiar architecture of longing per se, a factory of desire is built.
In Roland Barthes’s book A Lover’s Discourse, the enamoured is condemned to an inevitable longing. In the writer’s own words, “Am I in love? -Yes, since I am waiting”. Yet the object of the desire never waits. In this succession of absences and appearances, the enamoured always on time, hopelessly devoted to the Other loses every game.
Βetween infatuation, Other and distancing, Please Please Me exhibition encounters pleasure in the absence of a metropolitan art production.
