On 11 June 2021, the emblematic building of the former Public Tobacco Factory opened its doors for the first time, introducing a new contemporary cultural centre in Athens, open to all. Its inaugural exhibition Portals presented 59 artists from 27 countries and was organized by NEON as result of its collaboration with the Hellenic Parliament. Portals is curated by Elina Kountouri, Director of NEON, and Madeleine Grynsztejn, Pritzker Director, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
In the video, the President of the Parliament Mr. Constantine Tasoulas, NEON Founder, Dimitris Daskalopoulos and NEON Director and Curator of the exhibition, Elina Kountouri discuss the collaboration between the Hellenic Parliament and NEON and the exhibition Portals that occupied the former Public Tobacco Factory for 6 months in 2021.
