The Municipality of Athens and Outset Greece present for the first time in Greece at the National Garden an augmented reality international contemporary art exhibition titled Seeing the Invisible from 22 October 2022 to September 2023.
The exhibition can only be viewed upon visiting the participating gardens and through the free Seeing the Invisible mobile app. Viewers are invited to explore the National Garden and actively locate the augmented reality artworks scattered throughout the garden by following the map that appears on their screens.
The exhibition features 14 augmented reality (AR) works by established artists from various countries, including a special commission that was made to Greek artist, Loukia Alavanou, which is only on view at the National Garden, Athens.
The participating artists are: Loukia Alavanou, Refik Anadol, El Anatsui, Ori Gersht, Isaac Julien CBE RA, Mohammed Kazem, Sigalit Landau, Daito Manabe, Sarah Meyohas, Mel O’Callaghan, Pamela Rosenkranz, Timur Si-Qin, Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Ai Weiwei.
Setting these digital experiences inside gardens, without disturbing the preservations, and keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum, the exhibition addresses themes pertaining to nature, environment, and sustainability and explores the boundaries and connections between art, technology, and nature.
Outset Greece is supported by NEON.
