The National Theatre of Greece Drama School participates in the public program of the exhibition space of togetherness, organized by NEON at the School of Athens – Irene Papas with a lecture-performance titled The imaginary mosaic of identity (a short theatrical contemplation on the 1930s), on Saturday 28 September.
Dio Kangelari, Theatre Studies scholar and Director of Studies of the Drama School, Akyllas Karazisis, actor, director and acting tutor and the senior 3rd year students of the Department of Directing of the School embark on a research journey to the 1930s, a decisive era for arts in Greece, with the contribution of the musician Gary Salomon.
In the turmoil of the Greek interwar period, the unhealed wound of the Asia Minor defeat, the arrival of refugees and subsequent social segregation, the intensity of the intra-bourgeois crisis and the identity crisis, the aesthetic realignments and confrontations between Hellenocentrism and Europeanism, East and West, intensify in the field of poetry, painting and theatre, while the dictum on the fusion of tradition with modernity was formulated.
