Romeo and Juliet in Aigaleo is a series of workshops held in various primary schools around Aigaleo that uses Shakespeare’s plays as a springboard to embark on a journey into literature, dance, movement, sound and coding.

The musicians Gnous helps children to create a musical score for a scene from a 1930s silent Shakespeare film using musical instruments and everyday found objects.

Nikos Vogiatzis leads collaborative workshops using digital tools and user-generated content to create new written and illustrated versions of Shakespearean texts.

Actresses Iris Nikolaou and Rebecca Tsiligaridou uses A Midsummer Night’s Dream as the starting point for an exploration of improvisation and role-playing through dance, music and theater.

Visual artist Anastasia Douka uses Prospero’s Books, Peter Greenaway’s adaptation of The Tempest, to inspire children to create books of myths and legends for their own version of Prospero’s library.

Romeo and Juliet in Aigaleo is part of the Shakespeare Lives program and an extension of NEON’s Community Project 2016 | (young) Aigaleo City, organized and curated by locus athens.
