Dipylon NPO – Society for the Study of Ancient Topography invites the visitors of NEON’s exhibition space of togetherness to an archaeological, educational and architectural tour of the Moschato area, during which participants will visit designated points of interest of the ongoing audiovisual web walking app Walk the Long Walls by Dipylon.
During this thematic walk, Moschato itself -being the guardian of the neighborhood’s historical heritage- will guide us towards the exploration of both its ancient and modern local history. The industrial remains of the route will be our starting point, as we will focus on the evolution of the urban landscape and the unique features of the local anthropogeography. In addition, at the preserved areas of the remnants of the ancient fortification of the Long Walls, we will discuss the archaeological findings of Attica and outline the vanished natural landscape that framed them.
The starting point of the tour will be the National Theatre of Greece Drama School | School of Athens – Irene Papas on Piraeus Street where NEON presents the exhibition space of togetherness. We will then head to the linear park located near the Moschato train station.
Moschato residents, Atheneans and visitors of the area, initiated or not, are welcome to attend and find out about the historical legacy embedded in the modern city.
