Every repatriation attracts its allies.

The island of Kalymnos emerges as an artistic charger of 25 creators. Performers, musicians, poets, painters, sculptors, photographers, video artists, connect to the prevalent historical, socio-economical and cultural themes, as well as to the natural forces which in total constitute the particular experience of the island of Kalymnos.

Guided by the island archives while becoming familiar with working in situ, the artists explore the expressive spectrum of the human body, its levels of experience and meaning. Vulnerable and invincible, historical and timeless, personal and collective, the human body is being irreversibly defined and shaped through its multiple relationships with the mountainous body of the island.

Of a magnetic island, an earthly scale which floats within the cosmic scale proposing novel space bodies. Of a ceremonial island, which teaches the bodies rhythmical patterns. Of a relentlessly vertical island that gives birth to extreme bodies. Of a registry island that provides bodies with identity, of a transit island, witnessing violated bodies. Of an island-point of departure for a diaspora of bodies, of a repatriation island where the bodies return to merge and heal. Of an island-natural charger of sensuous bodies.

The expressive depictions of both the earthly and the human body are blended in a kaleidoscopic assemblage, offering to the broad island audience a collective sensory experience of art, the experience of Corpus Isola.

In the heart of Pothia. With the support of NEON.
