The Vlassis Caniaris exhibition forms part of the Bound for Tinos series organised for the third year by the Cultural Foundation of Tinos. Bound for Tinos attempts to showcase the cultural heritage of Tinos and its importance as a pole of attraction for artists. Bound for Tinos ΙΙΙ focuses on the art of Vlassis Caniaris, one of the most important Greek and European post-war artists, and aspires to demonstrate the topical nature of his artistic approach. The CFT exhibition also highlights some unknown aspects of the artist’s oeuvre. The uninitiated will thus get to know representative works from his sixty-year career, while those already familiar with his oeuvre will be able to see some lesser-known works as well as others that are being exhibited for the first time. The Vlassis Caniaris exhibition at the CFT is the first to be organized by a Greek institution after the artist’s death. Of course, this is not what justifies or adds value to it; it is the opportunity it gives to the public to see the work of a pioneering artist and judge it on the basis of today’s socio-political circumstances.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in Greek and in English, with essays and interviews by Vangelis Angelis, Kostas Christopoulos, Christoforos Marinos, Konstantinos Papageorgiou, Bia Papadopoulou, Manos Stefanidis, Katerina Zacharopoulou. Exhibition catalogue is publishes with the support of NEON.
