MOROMO is an installation of sound, sculptural metal forms, water and live performance. It creates an immersive environment in which sound, matter and the human body do not function as separate elements, but continuously affect and transform one another.

The first work encountered by the visitor is a large metal structure, which forms the central body of MOROMO and the core around which the installation unfolds. Smaller sculptural forms and sound compositions inhabit the same space, creating a unified field of listening and movement. Resonances, frequencies and vibrations travel between the metal bodies, at times almost imperceptibly and at others more densely, gradually altering the visitor’s sense of the space and of the forms within it.

A slow live performance takes place inside and around the central sculpture. The performer moves through and across the water, approaching, touching and activating the metal structure. The body passes through states of submersion and emergence, without following a fixed narrative. Rather than standing apart from the installation, it temporarily becomes part of it.

MOROMO explores the moment when the boundaries between body, material and sound begin to dissolve. The space does not function as a backdrop, but as a living body: one that receives, carries and retains vibration.

Supported by NEON though its annual Grants Scheme.
