On Sunday, November 4th2018, during ‘THE BRITISH OPEN DAY’, NEON organizes free guided tours held hourly at Andreas Lolis’ exhibition Prosaic Origins, presented at the gardens of the British School at Athens for this year’s CITY PROJECT.
Following the great interest the citizens of Athens expressed last year, during the first ‘British Residence Open Day’, this year, the British Residence teams up with the British School at Athens, organizing an exciting tour within their premises and open their doors to welcome the residents and visitors of Athens.
Participants will have the opportunity to be guided through The British Residence, the Upper House, the Library and the Fitch Laboratory of the British School at Athens as well as the exhibition Prosaic Origins by Andreas Lolis.
For Prosaic Origins curated by Nayia Yiakoumaki, Curator & Head of Curatorial studies at Whitechapel Gallery, Lolis uses the remains of consumption – ordinary things and abandoned materials – and transforms them in sculptures carved in marble, elevating them to the status of classical statues.
