Join us for the screening of The Most Beautiful Moment of War, 2017, (55min.) directed by Adrián Villar Rojas and produced by Rei Cine SRL, on Thursday, July 13th, 9pm, at the National Observatory of Athens, Hill of the Nymphs. It is the last part of the trilogy, screened in the context of the exhibition The Theater of Disappearance.
As Adrián Villar Rojas mentions “One of my main concerns since the beginning of my practice has been to document the working processes that I, together with my team, develop around the world. This obsession for documenting what is going on inside as well as outside the borders of my projects, gradually turned into a silent, even unconscious project in itself, with its own ethos and pathos triggered by my commitment to the places I visit and the people I meet.
The residual materials, found on my personal records, were made in the margins of a practice, as we can easily witness in the first piece of the trilogy, A War on Earth (2015). As we continue to the remaining two, Unknown Soldier (2016) and The Most Beautiful Moment of War (2017), I deliberately construct self-sufficient formal events, that no longer document but rather present a “thing” with a life and a death of its own. As any other living thing in this world, this one will also struggle to come into being, leave a trace in air, and disappear.”
