Glorious Epic (Lagos Version) expands Sofia Mavragani’s ongoing choreographic project, Glorious Epic, through a collaboration between QDance Center and FINGERSIXathens in Lagos, Nigeria.

Drawing on ancient and contemporary tragedy, the work explores the relationship between soloist and chorus, shifting attention from the heroic individual toward the possibilities and tensions that emerge when bodies act together.

Choreographically, Glorious Epic approaches collectivity as a field of interconnection, negotiation, friction, and transformation, where bodies move without seeking uniformity. Synchronization coexists with disruption, vulnerability with power, and individuality with shared presence.

The Lagos version extends this research into a new cultural and social context, engaging participants in a creative process that explores how bodies can move, negotiate, and imagine together. Developed with local dancers in Lagos, the project creates a space for artistic exchange between Greece and Nigeria, where collective presence emerges as both an aesthetic and political force.

Supported by NEON through its annual Grants Scheme.
